Since the 90’s, there’s been a rite of initiation that all the Britpop/Indie Rock bands must pass before reaching success. I’m talking, of course, about the famous “Brothers Gallagher Trial”. Many bands have been approved or booed (mostly booed) by the Oasis’ brothers, Liam and Noel.
The Gallaghers need no introduction. They formed one of the best bands of all time while quarreling with other groups (who doesn’t remember the war against Blur) and fighting between themselves. Even big names like Jay-Z can’t escape from their criticism (fortunately, Mr. Carter didn’t look back in anger). The brothers from Manchester never held their tongue about anything and we can always count on their reviews about the Music Industry.
Love them or hate them, it’s impossible to deny that Noel and Liam are Rock ‘n’ Roll Royalty and Oasis is still a big inspiration to the new bands. After all, how many of us learned to play the guitar with chords from Wonderwall?
One of the victims of the “Brothers Gallagher Trial” was the Australian band DMA’s. When the trio from Sydney acknowledged that Oasis was a big inspiration in their early days, Noel replied with some of his typical love “No, I can’t say I’ve had the displeasure of listening to it yet”.
Since then, the band was acclaimed by the British public (even Liam). It is still unknown if Noel had the chance to listen to them later on Coachella. If he didn’t, he can still catch one of the concerts of their UK tour, starting this month.
