WVS + Friends, BIG SWELL, For The Culture

April 13, 2017

MELBOURNE - On a cool Thursday evening, we'd set out to see a slew of live acts at the the very first 'WVS + Friends Showcase'. The event was held at Ding Dong Lounge, a venue which is mainly known for its rock biased events, finally got a taste of Australia's Hip Hop & Trap scene.

The line up was crazy, no other word could explain the artistry which graced the stage. The following acts performed: Kwasi x HFNR, Travy P, I.e., Lil Spacely, HVNCOQ, JUVE, Juñor, Petero Thony, Cylo, Mike Wang, Sophiegrophy, Reiis, Poppy, AUD'$ DJs and WVS DJs. The crowd went wild, when 360 made a special guest appearance.

A large number of unreleased tracks were performed, both 360 and Travy P dropped a number of unreleased gems. The events media partner, Complex AU, also shot a video clip for 'Thrash Out (No Tradition)' by WVS artists, Kwasi & HFNR.

Credit where credit is due, WVS put Australian Hip Hop on the map with this event. The venue packed out, the crowd moshed to Aussie Hip Hop, and this definitely is a wondrous thing. WVS have been making waves recently (pun intended), with the majority of their recent releases being curated on Apple Music playlists, a major feat and a major step forward for the scene as a whole.

The showcase ended during the early hours of Friday morning. The BTG team left impressed, we really hope this will be one of many 'WVS' events to come!
